Opposition leader Raila Odinga has hit out Deputy President William Ruto over the BBI report.
On Friday, Raila gave an update about the report’s release date and called out individuals who have been opposing the initiative.
According to Raila, the report is around the corner warning that it will root out individuals who have been opposed to the entire process.
From this perspective, Raila appeared to be taking direct shots at Ruto who has opposed the report stating that it aims to benefit the dynasties.
“The BBI report is around the corner. The forces that have always opposed change; the voices of impunity that thrive on corruption and outright lies, have already lined up against the report. We must stop them from dragging the country into anarchy,” said Raila.
Raila made the remarks during the Orange Democratic Movement National Executive Council. The former Prime Minister added that once the report is out, they will be confronting individuals who have been supporting corruption and impunity in the country.
“In the months ahead, we are going into a confrontation with the beneficiaries of proceeds of corruption who are arraigned against our agenda for a radical socio-economic transformation, job creation, and equitable distribution of prosperity. We must win that war,” said Raila.
Raila and Ruto have been at a crossroads since the famous handshake. According to Ruto, Raila only agreed to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta as a means of wrecking the Jubilee Party from within.
Since the handshake, the Jubilee party has been divided with a section of members supporting the union. Another faction allied to Ruto has opposed the move terming it political conmanship.
