It is no surprise that Kenya’s Facebook is dominated by the youth who are mostly considered tech-savvy compared to the older generation. The demographic breakdown of Facebook is important because it helps marketers who have turned to the platform in popularizing their products and services.

Facebook still controls the highest number of users in Kenya.

The data also overviewed the number of leading social media users in the country where Facebook still occupies the top spot.  By the end of quarter one 2020, approximately 9.3 million Kenyans were on Facebook. Out of this figure, 57.3% of the users were men while females Facebook users were 42.7%.

Career and job search platform Linkedin has the second-highest number of users in Kenya at  2.4 million. This figure accounts for about 4.4% of the entire Kenyan population.

Most of the social media users interact mostly through Facebook-owned platforms like Instagram and Messenger. Cumulatively, Facebook, Messanger, and Instagram control a staggering 12.6 million users in Kenya.

It is no surprise that Facebook is the most popular social network in Kenya. The platform is the oldest social network in the country thanks to the marketing done at launch.

Facebook is also popular based on the fact that it combines two aspects of common web surfing with an interpersonal element. Facebook has informative content covering every possible global, national, or local issue while at the same time entertains its users with memes, video games, and other applications. Notably, Facebook developers have been adding new features since launching back in 2004. This ability has enabled the platform to keep up to date with new emerging networks like Snapchat and TikTok.

Globally, Facebook has about 2.45 billion monthly users. Out of these figures, about 1.62 million people use Facebook daily. However, it is worth noting that Facebook has acknowledged at least 116 million accounts are fake.
